Richard Lewis Obituary

Richard C. Lewis, 71, of Vernon, beloved husband of Wendy A. (Trevor) Lewis, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Yeovil, Somerset, England, son of the late Harold P. and Rhoda (Hill) Lewis and came to the United States in 1980 and lived in West Covina, Calif., until moving to Vernon in 1990. Prior to his retirement, Richard was an engineer with Timken in Manchester. He was a car enthusiast, he enjoyed skeet shooting, playing pool and billiards, going on vacation, and was an avid ten-pin bowler, and long with his wife Wendy was active at the Spare Time Lanes in Vernon Bowling Leagues for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Richard T. Lewis of East Hampton; his sister, Jean Jewel of Bristol, England; his brother, Roger Lewis, and his wife, Ruth of Yeovil, England; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Lewis of Leeds, England, and Sandy Trevor of Milborne Port, England; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Calling hours and visitation will be Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the John A. DeQuattro Community Cancer Center, 71 Haynes St., Manchester, CT 06040; or to the American Diabetes Association, Connecticut and Massachusetts Office, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
