Richard P. Manas Sr., 65, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away Nov. 30, 2011.

Richard was born in Astoria, N.Y., the son of Nicholas and Henrietta Manas of Levittown, N.Y., before moving to Vernon and then retiring in Bradenton, Fla. He served his country in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 44 years, Lorraine (McCue) Manas. He is also survived by his son, Richard and wife, Michele, of Tolland; daughter, Laura Mazzeo and husband, Russell, of Brunswick, Ohio; and son, Joseph and wife, Misty, of Parma Heights, Ohio; brother, Michael and wife, Karen, of Holtsville, N.Y., brother, Donald and wife, Shannon, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; as well as eight loving grandchildren to whom he was known as Papa.

Rich enjoyed golfing and card playing, but enjoyed his grandchildren most of all, in which he held dearest to him. To those who knew Rich he was the life of the party and had a heart of gold. Every person who had the pleasure to know him had a story and memory that will outlast his legacy. Rich will be sorely missed by all, but will forever last in our hearts.

A service celebrating his life will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Rick and the girls,

We were very sorry to hear about Papa Rich. He truly was one of a kind with a heart of gold. I'll always remember the fun we had with him and "the gang" way back when. He always livened up the party.

Our deepest sympathies to you Uncle Rick, Danielle, Amber & Caitlyn.

Love you all,

Karen, Sydney, Taylor & Ben
