Robert Cosgrove Obituary

Robert Midgley Cosgrove, beloved husband of Irene (Campbell) Cosgrove, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home. He was 93.

Bob was a native of Providence, R.I., the son of John J. and Alice (Midgley) Cosgrove. He served as a Navy officer during World War II, and came to Connecticut in 1946. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church for over 51 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Following a long career in the automobile finance business, he joined the Connecticut Labor De-partment, from which he retired in 1981. Subsequently, he served a term on the State Properties Review Board. He previously served as a volunteer counselor on health insurance matters at the local senior center. He served as the town's representative on the former Bradley Field Commission, and as a member of a Charter Revision Commit-tee. He was a past president of the Windsor Locks VNA, as well as a former director of the Connecticut Association for Home Care. He was former chairman of the Windsor Locks Board of Tax Review, and a former member of the local Com-mission on the Needs of the Aging. Bob was active on the local Dem-ocratic Town Committee and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by two sons, Robert M. Cosgrove Jr. of Southington and his wife, Barbara, and Paul A. Cosgrove, of Lancaster, Pa., and his wife, Stephanie Adams; two daughters, Carol C. Poto of Chandler, Ariz., and her husband, Frank, and Catherine C. Delasco of E. Granby and her husband, Herbert. He also leaves two grandchildren, Janice Rojas and Ryan Cosgrove, and a great grandson, Forrest Rojas; a niece, Elizabeth O'Dea, and a nephew, Thomas Cosgrove, both of Rhode Island.

A procession will form on Friday, March 7, 2008 by 9 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Bob's family at the funeral home on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
