Robert Okun Obituary
Robert Okun, 80, of West Suffield, beloved husband of Jean Egan died quietly on June 9. He was a dedicated and respected retired Suffield history teacher and avid golfer. He is also survived by his loving and beloved son Daniel Okun and daughter-in-law Kate, grandchildren Daniel, Gianna, Henry, Shyria and Nathan, nephews Jason Schmitt and Jeffrey Borgio, and niece Jennifer Borgio.
The family thanks the caring staff at Eagle Pointe, Suffield House, Josephine Diaz, PA-C, and Dr. Lahrmann.
Bob enjoyed spending time with friends and family, golfing, breakfasts with retired teacher friends, travel, teaching and learning, and was an avid reader and Lincoln scholar. He loved history, and taught it so that students loved it, too.
Final arrangements are private.

Mr. Okun was one of my favorite teachers. He was my history teacher back in 1981 when I was in the 8th grade. Our required homework from him, once a week, were "index cards" of a particular interest. Thank you Mr. Okun for making history fun.

It is so sad to hear of the passing of Bob! He was such a fun loving uncle. But more importantly, he was a great father and step father to Jeff, Leslie, Dan, Sarah and Laura! He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. You will be missed.
