Rodney J. House, 55, of Broad Brook, beloved husband of 30 years to Donna (Tobey) House, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Hartford, the son of the late George and Linda (Hyde) House, Jr., he was a lifelong resident of East Windsor. Rodney was a graduate of East Windsor High School, Class of 1983. He was a communicant of St. Philip Church in East Windsor. Prior to his retirement in 2019, Rodney was employed as an iron worker with Iron Workers Local 15 in Hartford for 35 years. After retirement, Rodney worked at Boutin & Sons Construction, Inc. in Broad Brook. He loved coaching Little League baseball, basketball and soccer when his sons were young. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. Rodney was an avid sports fan and dedicated New York Yankee, Giants and NASCAR fan. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Matthew House of Broad Brook, and Alexander "Alex" House and his wife, Chelsea of New Hampshire; and his grandson Liam House of New Hampshire; his sister, Stacey (House) Starkweather and her husband, Scott of South Windsor; two nieces, Emily Starkweather, and Gianna House; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Carole Tobey of East Windsor; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his twin brother Jeffrey J. House (August 2020).
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 26, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook.
