Salvatrice M. (Micciulla) Brezza was born on June 10, 1937, to her parents Gaspare Micciulla and Vincenza Bordonaro Micciulla. Sally, as she was known, was a loving wife, mother, cousin, sister, grandmother and friend.
Sally grew up in Hartford and East Hartford. She was always proud of her Italian American heritage and was a scholar on the subject. She always had a profound love of literature, which held strong throughout her life. A passionate fan of classical music and opera, the beauty of it always seemed to carry her off to another place. It is rare to find someone to parallel the wealth of wisdom within Sally. She loved history, religion, animals, the unexplained, and always sought to gain the best from herself and others through her reading. Sally was married to her love of 67 years, Giovanni Mario Brezza "John" on June 5, 1954 at St. Anthony Church in Hartford. Sally and John created what was the most cherished part of Sally's life, her family. Together, they had three children and many treasured pets. They settled in East Windsor and resided there for over 50 years. For all of Sally's life, she was the core to the wealth of love she surrounded herself and others with. An avid chef, there are few who could match her prowess in the kitchen. She would routinely orchestrate amazing dinners for all of her family and friends. At these gatherings, it's inevitable that Sally's iconic and infectious laugh would erupt and the room would join in. Her presence was always the loving centerpiece to all of these stellar family meals. In her professional life, Sally worked in the banking world. She started out at the Signature Loan Co and ended with the majority of her career at the Federal Reserve Bank in Windsor Locks. She made many special, long lasting friendships during her time there. Sally and John spent many years traveling to and camping at the Outer Banks of North Carolina where Sally fell in love with the land, lore and memories made at Ocrakoke Island. In addition to their time in Ocrakoke, Sally and John loved camping in the idyllic beauty of Vermont and Maine. She always enjoyed watching the birds and spending time around the fire laughing with loved ones.
In the wake of Sally's passing, she leaves a constellation of loved ones behind. Her loving and dedicated husband, Giovanni Mario Brezza "John"; daughter, Joanna MacWilliam (Brezza) of East Windsor and her husband, William, and their son, David Brezza of Granby and his wife, Virginia. She was predeceased by their daughter Carrie Brezza. In addition to her husband and children, beloved nieces, nephews and their families, Sally leaves behind her grandchildren, Joshua Sanders of Hebron, his wife, Melissa and great-grandson, Robert; Jessica Hallett of East Windsor, her husband, David and their children, Ryan and Emily; and Jacob MacWilliam of Broad Brook and his wife, Jenna and their children, Lincoln, Hazen and Aella Salvatrice.
Sally was the type of person who meant a lot to a lot of people. She was someone who could find the good parts in people and draw them out gently and lovingly. Sally was eminently prideful of the life that she and her husband crafted and the lives they helped to shape around them. She is now able to join her passed loved ones and rejoice without pain and suffering. There is no question that Sally will be keeping an eye on things and lending a helping hand to us all whether we know it or not.
She will be missed.
