Sean Campbell Obituary

Sean Michael Campbell, 44, lifelong resident of Manchester, died peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at West Side Health Care in Manchester surrounded by his family.

Sean was born on Sept. 10, 1969, in Hartford, the son of Gerald Campbell and Marybeth (Martin) Campbell. Sean was a graduate of Manchester High School with the Class of 1988. Sean lived his life to the fullest, maybe too full at times. He is probably strumming with Jerry Garcia as you're reading this. He fought a courageous battle for over 20 years with brain tumors. He was a staunch New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. Sean loved his family and friends.

His family wishes to thank Dr. Chozick and Dr. Brisman, St. Francis Cancer Center, and the Westside Health Care nurses and staff for their kind and compassionate care and friendship.

Along with his father, Gerald Campbell of Columbia and his mother, Marybeth Campbell of Manchester, he leaves his grandmother, Madelyn Martin of South Windsor; his sisters, Patty Gill, and her husband, Eric, of East Hartford and Christina Roy, and her husband, John, of South Carolina; his brothers, Phil Abbott, and his girlfriend, Sue Mayo, of Manchester and Eric Abbott of Austin, Texas; his stepmother, Bonnie Ivey of South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Amber, Shannon, Ryan, Kira, Joshua, Brianna, Logan, and Riley; his great-niece, Julianna; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Dorothy Campbell; his uncle Rodger Campbell; and his maternal grandfather, Harold Martin.

His family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut, 200 Old Day Hill Road, Windsor, CT 06095; and/or Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108.

Sean was always a dynamic person to say the least. Although I haven't spoken to him in many years, I have known him since the Buckley School elementary days and of course he was responsible for some truly legendary parties during high school (where no one got hurt or into fights) and he and his mom allowed us to play loud music at their house for which we were always grateful.
You will be missed Sean.
My condolences and best wishes to all family and friends.
