Thomas J. Daley, 75, of Vernon and formerly of South Windsor, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021.
Born in Hartford, the son of the late Barney and Monica (Mitchell) Daley. Left to mourn his loss is his beloved daughter, Bridget Daley Tallis and her husband, Kirk of Wixom, Michigan; his loving sister, Barbara Daley Gibbons and her husband, Kenneth of Vernon; his sister-in-law, Sandra Daley of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; including nine great-nephews; and many cousins and two close cousins, Joan Shaia and Gail Graham. Also left to mourn his loss is his very best lifelong friend, Lawrence Burgess. Thomas was predeceased by his older brother, Bernard Charles Daley.
Tom was a carpenter for many years, helping to construct many of the condo and apartment complexes in this area. He also worked on a friend's dairy farm in upper state New York for a number of years. It was a job that he loved. In retirement, Tom enjoyed fresh and saltwater fishing. One memorable occasion was when he charted a boat and took family members deep sea fishing. Tom was easily satisfied with the simple pleasures in life. He loved walking, usually three miles a day, to the shopping center, and talking with people along the way. He loved nature, especially the birds and bunny rabbits he'd see along the way. He loved watching the phases of the moon and was delighted by a beautiful full moon, letting us all know to watch for it. He really loved a good storm with lots of lightning and thunder and would sit on the porch and watch it. He also loved the 4th of July and never tired of going to see a good fireworks display. Tom had a beautiful soul and a strong faith in God. He was deeply loved by his family and will be sorely missed.
A special thank you to his daughter Bridget and niece Christine Baronousky Schiavetti who lovingly cared for him during his final illness.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the family's convenience.
