Walter Whitman Obituary

Walter J. Whitman, 97, of Manchester, the husband of the late Florence (Moran) Whitman, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his home.

Born in Maine, he had lived in Manchester for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had retired from the State of Connecticut as an engineer after many years of service. He was active with East Hartford Masons. Walter was a well-loved, kind man who will be missed by his friends and caregivers, especially Ezilda, Millicent, Feoney, and Regina.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 6, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester.

Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Westfield Cemetery, Danielson.

Walter was a good guy and wonderful neighbor. It was fitting that a man who loved his home was allowed to spend his final years there. I will forever remember him when I look across at his wisteria vine bursting into purple in the spring. We will miss you dear friend. Carl, Brenda and Natalie
