William Donlin Obituary
He was born in Manchester on April 24, 1933, son of the late James Michael and Mabel Donlin. William settled in South Windsor in 1957 and was a quality engineer in the aerospace industry for 40-plus years working for TRW and PCC (Precision Casting Corp.) until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in South Windsor. Bill cherished his family and friends and lived life to its fullest.
He was predeceased by two sons, Peter and Steven. In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, James Donlin of South Windsor, Susan LeConche, and her husband, John, of South Windsor, Jeffrey Donlin of South Windsor, Maureen Labanara of South Windsor, and William F. Donlin Jr., and his wife, Erin, of Tolland; and nine grandchildren, Kelly, John, Justin, Stephanie, Amy, Lindsey, Kelsey, Christopher, and Emily; and many loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves a sister, Pat; and was predeceased by a brother, James, and sister, Mary.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 6, beginning at 9:15 a.m. from Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in Center Cemetery, South Windsor.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor, CT 06074.

I was only five when I met the Donlin family I remember going over for a visit, Mr. Donlin saw me and approached me with his hand extended to shake mine. I ran and hid in the back of my mothers skirt. He just looked at me and smiled. I'll never forget that day as long as I live.
He treated me like part of his family never the less. They will always remember my Birthdays, Christmas. For my 21st birthday we flew to Sarasota, FL. to see them, when we arrived to the Condominium Mrs.Donlin had baked me a chocolate birthday cake. You can just imagined here I'm 21 with all these people around me singing Happy Birthday to me.I was embarrassed of course but very happy to spend time together,then I heard Mr. Donlin's 95 year old neighbor Al telling me to take my hat off at the table.
Mr. Donlin would show up at my baseball games. “I can still hear him cheering me and yelling my name, “Come on Dannooo” the last time I saw him was in Enfield Town Faire Tire. He came over and give me and mom the biggest hug. Never cross my mind that I would never see him again.I had asked him what he was doing there and he replied with the biggest laugh, “That Gloria” the only pot hole in Manchester and she had to hit it know she needs tires. We just look at each other and burst in a laugh.
Thank you for the best years of my life and for welcoming us to your family “we” will never forget you and we will always keep you in our thoughts and in our hearts. I know one day our paths will cross again until then.

What else can be said except that we lost one of the greatest guys Ever! Big Bill meant the world to me, and has has influenced who I am today.
We will miss him sorely. My condolences go out to the rest of the family, may he rest in peace.
