Yvonne Sanville Wood, age 90, died suddenly with her son Marc Sanville and her daughter-in-law Marybeth by her side.
Yvonne was born in Hartford, CT to the late Doris and Ernest LaPlante. She was raised in East Hartford and graduated from East Hartford High School. Yvonne earned her RN from Mass General School of Nursing, and an MA from RPI. She worked in several healthcare settings including the Hartford Hospital Emergency Department and as nurse manager of the Dialysis Unit. Yvonne also worked for the Visiting Nurse Association and Blair Manor Nursing Home.
Yvonne lived in Windsor and raised her family there. She moved to Somers when she married her second husband Ellsworth (Woody) Wood. She was an active member of the Congregational Church of Somersville, singing in the choir and working in The Blacksmith Shop with her friend Marilyn Hare.
Yvonne was actively involved in the CT rug hooking community with her mother, sister Gail and her friend Sandy Rand. As a McGown certified teacher she taught classes in the US and Canada. She continued rug hooking with a small group of women who met weekly for many years. Yvonne graduated from the UCONN Extension Master Gardener Program, creating beautiful gardens.
Yvonne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Marc and Marybeth Sanville who lovingly cared for her the last two years of her life, her daughter-in-law Leeann Sanville and her grandchildren Gillian, Sadie, Tessa, and Aidan Sanville, her daughter Lori Ann Belden and children, her brothers Richard (Ramona) LaPlante and Peter LaPlante, her sisters Doris (Linda) LaPlante and Gail (Richard) Dufresne as well as her close friends Marilyn Hare and Sandy Rand. She was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth Wood and her sons Robert and Steven Sanville.
A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church of Somersville on Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Church.
