Alvin W. White, 85, of Freeport, IL passed away Sunday November 1, 2020 at Rock River Health Care in Rockford, IL. He was born July 25, 1935 in Bloomington, IL to John and Margaret (Lindley) White. On June 4, 1960 he married Naomi Ruth Bryan in Frankfort, IN. He was a graduate of Malta High School in Malta, IL. Alvin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Bob Jones University and a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin. Alvin was a 6th grade teacher at the Freeport School District and after retiring he also taught at Tri-County Christian School and Immanuel Lutheran School. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Freeport, IL. His church activities included serving as choir director and Sunday School Superintendent. Surviving Alvin is his wife Naomi Ruth White; two daughters Sheryl (Kirk) Ford and Debra White; two brothers Darrel White and Wesley White; two sisters Harriet Lassing and Beverly Cain; one granddaughter Lily Ford; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Deane White, and sisters Ruth Hueber and Barbara Odom. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday November 6, 2020 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Scott Casto and Rev. Dean Pickett officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday November 5, 2020 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Social distancing and face masks will be required at the service and visitation. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
