James Slick Obituary

James Slick 1936—2017
James Slick, 80, of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was born October 14, 1936, in Freedom Township to the late Floyd and Erma (Ethridge) Slick. James was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Carroll High School. He married Elizabeth Bedford on August 15, 1958, in Denver, Co. James worked for Civil Construction as a heavy equipment semi driver. He was also the owner/operator of Jim's Auction House and Jim's Discount Furniture. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Freeport; two sons, Jeffrey (Lori Castle) Slick of Freeport, Duane (Jodi Albright) Slick of Nixa, Mo; daughter, Dawn (Brian) Barr of Shannon; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with #13 and #14 on the way; and brother, Donald (Merille) Slick of Mt. Carroll. James was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Erma; sister, Joan Barrett; and brother, Randy Slick.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon, IL, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., with a luncheon afterwards. All are invited to attend the graveside service at the Lanark Cemetery following the luncheon. A memorial fund has been established.
