Joyce M. Preston 1929—2016
Joyce Marilyn Preston, of Ft. Atkinson, WI., longtime Freeport, IL., resident, and formerly of Stoughton, WI., passed away peacefully at Marquardt Village, Watertown, WI., on June 1, 2016. Joyce was born on December 21, 1929, the sixth of seven children, on the Carlsen family farm in rural Spooner, WI., the daughter of Laura and Conrad Carlsen. Joyce was united in marriage to Marion L. Preston, the love of her life, in Dubuque, IA., on November 1, 1947. Joyce is survived by her 5 children, Margo (Jim Salazar) Preston of Trevor, WI., Brenda Bastien of Waterloo, WI., Kevin (Connie) Preston of Sugar Land, TX., Kerry (Dottie) Preston of Abilene, TX., and Kyle (Kim) Preston of Lake Mills, WI.; grandchildren Desi (Rick) Reale, Oregon, WI., Levi and Nolan Preston, Dallas, TX., Bryant Preston, Houston, TX., Garrett Preston, Austin, TX., and Allie and Laura Preston, Abilene, TX., and great-grandchildren McKenna Kuehl, Antonio and Christian Reale, Oregon, WI. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marion, on May 25, 1977. Joyce had a spirit of living that will be missed by her family who love her very much. Joyce was a lifelong Packers and Badgers fan, and enjoyed playing euchre with her friends at Blackhawk Ridge Senior Apartments in Ft. Atkinson. Joyce retired from Osco Drug in Freeport, IL., where she greeted her customers with a warm smile and friendly talk.
A celebration of her life will be held in Freeport, IL at a date to be determined. Joyce's family wishes to extend a special thank you for the wonderful care from Marquardt Village, and dear friend and neighbor Marvel Rowley.
