Stephen Greenfield Obituary
Stephen L. Greenfield, 69, of Lanark, IL passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born December 6, 1948, in Freeport, IL to Henry and Marian (Moring) Greenfield. Steve married Debora S. Stutzman on May 19, 1989, at Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church. He was a 1966 graduate of Shannon High School and attended UW Platteville. Steve was a member of Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church. He owned and operated Greenfield Concrete Productions since 1977. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Jr. Steve enjoyed boating, convertible rides and traveling. He was also a Master Certified BBQ Judge for the Kansas City BBQ Society. He is survived by his wife, Debora S. Greenfield of Lanark; mother, Marian Greenfield of Freeport; son, Brook (Adrianne) Greenfield of Shannon; daughter, Abbey (Matt Riddle) Greenfield of Rockford; grandchildren, Chance, Lillian, Charlie, and Willow; brothers, Gene (Beverly) Greenfield of Pearl City and Gary (Teresa) Greenfield of Freeport; nieces and nephews, Jason, Amanda, Madelyn and Brady. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry and niece, Mallory.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon. Interment will take place at Prairie Dell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be shared with Steve's family at www.hermannfuneralhome.com.

To Steves' family I offer my sincerest condolences. I was shocked to learn of his passing this week.
I had the pleasure of meeting Steve and Brook when I had them do the flatwork for my shop 9 years ago. I have since recommended them to anyone needing the finest concrete work probably in the state. He paddled his flats to a sheen, a true craftsman. God speed.

Our deepest sympathies to your family. Captain Concrete was a good man. I always will remember when my drain tile floated away and He came the next day with his son and repaired my yard. He was always willing to help others. He will be dearly missed.

It is hard to think of words to say... As I get older, I start to realize how important people are in your life, even the one's you don't see on a daily basis. Steve made my life richer, more interesting, more fun and entertaining, and I am thankful for that. To Captain Concrete, I say God bless, Godspeed, and rest in peace. The Greenfield family - Rosemary and I send our love for your family. Steve was the cousin who came down to the St. Louis - Chicago Cub game in St. Louis the first year we had the Rotary "Family Day at the Ball Park". It is difficult to lose a member out of the great Moring family. Knowing and growing up with our cousins, especially celebrating the Shannon Homecoming Day each year was fun. All of us at Grandma's Moring 100th birthday and celebrating her life until almost 104 years was a joy and a memory that you treasured along with the other members of the family.
