Steven Kohn Obituary

STEVEN WESLEY KOHN, 65 EDWARDS, MO - Steven Wesley Kohn, 65, of Edwards, MO, passed away after a sudden illness on November, 10, 2015. He was the beloved son of Keith and Betty (Brinkmeier) Kohn of McConnell IL. Steven was born January, 12, 1950, in Freeport, IL. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1968. He was very active in sports and received a scholarship to attend Highland Community College. After a short time in college Steve decided to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he served for 8 years achieving the rank of staff sergeant and working as a medic and cardio-pulmonary tech. After an honorable discharge Steve returned home to live in the Winslow area. He worked in farming and also served as Postmaster of McConnell and Orangeville. Steve was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bowling and collecting coins. He loved being with family and friends more than anything else. After moving to Missouri in 2006, Steve graduated from Kirkwood College driving school and drove semi-tractors across the country until his passing. Steve was a member of the American Legion Post #217 and had been a previous commander at the McConnell, IL Legion. He was a member of the Orangeville, IL Masonic Lodge#687 and also a longtime member of 40/8 #189. In 1990, he married Lisa Elaine Kerley. Steve and Lisa recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and were making plans for an upcoming retirement. Their two surviving daughters are Taryn Elizabeth Kohn and Eden Noelle Kohn, both of Missouri. Also survived by daughters, Sara Star Henning (Joe) of Monroe WI, Stefanie Beth Tessendorf (Shawn) of Lena IL; son, Scott Wesley Kohn (Pennie) of Kentucky; grandchildren, Andrew (Scott), Michael - Madalyn (Sara), and Evelyn (Stefanie). He is survived by his mother, Betty Kohn; sisters, Barbara Jacobs (Ken), and Patricia Kleckler (Keith). Steve is preceded in death by his father, Keith Wesley Kohn and son, Derek Michael Kohn, A private family ceremony will be held in Edwards, MO with a memorial in Illinois to follow at a later time.
