Arnold L "Jack" Bartels
May 11, 1934 - February 1, 2023
Jack was born in Hubbard NE to Arnold I Bartels and Barbara (Goodsell) Bartels on May 11, 1934. He unexpectedly passed away on February 1, 2023. Jack was raised in Nebraska, and he went to high school and graduated in Homer, NE in 1952. He married Lilian (Jacobsen) on May 26th, 1953. He entered the Army in 1955, and was a Specialist 2 Company Clerk, 1st Btl. Gp 87th Inf of the 10th Infantry Division. He was Stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany from 1955 to 1958. He returned home with wife, Lil and son, Randall.
He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Education from Wayne State College. He taught school and coached sports in Randolph, NE before they moved to Lincoln in 1963. There he taught at Nettleton Business College. Jack married his second wife, Rita, on February 14, 1971. They lived in may places over the years, and in 1985, they joined the LaQuinta Inns in hospitality and management. They managed several LaQuinta Inns in many states. They traveled for work to train and mentor other managers. They earned many awards for their efforts and excellence with the company. They retired in 2004.
Recently Jack had moved to Lincoln to be closer to his son, Randy, daughter-in-law, Jana, daughter, Jenna and husband Phil Ostendorf, and daughter, Emily and husband Pete White. Jack will be missed by many family members and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, 18000 E Arapahoe Rd. Foxfield, CO 80016. Internment at St. Simeon Cemetery, 22001 CO-30, Aurora, CO 80018. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to American Legion Randolph NE P113 c/o Ray Schnell Cmdr, 411 E Broadway St., Randolph NE 68771
