Catherine Patricia "Cathy" Coder
July 2, 1933 - February 18, 2023
Catherine Patricia "Cathy" Coder, age 89, of Lincoln, NE, passed away February 18, 2023. Cathy was born July 2, 1933, to William and May Cohen in Wallace, NE, where she was raised and attended grade school. Cathy graduated from St. Patrick High School in North Platte, NE. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated from McCook College with a Teaching Degree. Cathy taught grade school in Wallace and McCook.Cathy married George Coder on October 2, 1954, and they were blessed with four children and six grandchildren. They moved to Lincoln, NE, in 1973, where she lived the rest of her life.
Survivors include daughters Patricia Coder of Lincoln, NE; Pamela Smith (Stuart and son Patrick) of Overland Park, KS; and sons William Coder (Maria and children Will, T.J. and Kathleen) of Highlands Ranch, CO; James Coder (Stephanie and daughters Madison and Mackenzie) of Scottsdale, AZ; and sister-in-law Sue Kagarise of Newnan, GA. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all seven siblings.
Services will be at St. John's Catholic Church (7601 Vine St., Lincoln, NE) with a Rosary at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Cathy will be buried alongside her husband at the Wellfleet Cemetery (NE) at 11:00am on Monday, February 27, 2023. Memorials to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Pink Sisters Convent or to the family for future designation. Condolences may be left online at www.bmlfh.com

I met Cathy years ago when we shared a holy hour at the Pink Sisters. We have been friends ever since. Cathy was such a beautiful and grace-filled woman. What a privilege for me to call her friend. Prayers.

My sister Jean and I send our deepest sympathies to all of Cathy's family. Our parents, Pat and Jim (Pete) Peters were friends with Cathy and George, beginning in the 1950s I believe. Jean and I were delighted to have lunch and an extended conversation with Cathy after our dad passed away in 2015, and I've thought of Cathy many times since then. Dear family
Please accept my prayers and condolences in the loss of your mother and grandmother. When the first three children were little and living in North Platte I babysat for your mom and dad and enjoyed you all. I got to see your mom at the Sunken Gardens back in the 90s. It was a treat for me. She is a wonderful person and will be missed.
