Connie Lee (Shalberg) Ruben, 78, of Lincoln, NE passed away peacefully from a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on May 27, 1947 in Bloomfield, NE to LaVern and Lona (Stark) Shalberg, she grew up in Chapman and graduated from Central City High School and Mary Jane School of Beauty in 1965. She married Douglas Ruben on May 27, 1966 and they made their home in Lincoln.

Connie worked as a beautician at Miller and Paine before spending most of her career at Quebecor Printing Company and later worked at Bryan Health.

Connie loved tending to her many beautiful plants, sewing and making blankets, and taking her classic 1957 Corvette to summer car shows, often bringing home a trophy. She loved travelling, particularly to Jamaica, her favorite getaway. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and many friends-especially watching her grandchildren grow up.

Connie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Doug Ruben of Lincoln; her daughters Dawn Ruben of Lincoln and Nicole (Doug) Schmidt of Lincoln; her grandchildren Collin and Olivia Schmidt; her sister Gloria (Tim) McDermott of Wilber; her brother Jerry (Sue) Shalberg of Grand Island; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, LaVern and Lona Shalberg; and her brothers Larry Shalberg and Jackie Shalberg.
