David Burden Obituary
August 5, 1953 - December 4, 2025
Born in Lincoln to Paul and Jan (Wilson) Burden, David, 72, was a loving father, husband, and brother with an abiding curiosity about and appreciation for the natural world, genealogy, history, strong coffee, and the great state of Nebraska. David was the third-generation President of Burden Surplus Center, a proud graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a generous benefactor of causes such as conservation, human rights, the arts, animal welfare, and many scholarship funds. David's final act of generosity was donating his liver and kidney.
Survived by wife, Gianene Prentice; children, John and wife, Sadie, Mike and wife, Sarah, Amanda Irions, all of Lincoln, and Alissa Irions of Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Bradley.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, with reception to follow.

I knew Dave in working with him on various projects in the Country Club neighborhood. As president of the association and contact member for many years, Dave was always willing to help and voice his concerns. When a committee was formed for Historical designations of the neighborhood and its many fine homes, he was willing to help. I appreciated him as an excellent neighbor. Ke wo;; be greatly missed.

I was very sorry to hear of David's passing. He was very smart and great in the business arena.. I grew up as a neighbor be to David ,,any years ago. Later in life I had a great business deal with Dave. God bless David and may he rest in peace.
