Dennis Joseph Schock

Dennis Joseph Schock, 74, of Lincoln, passed away December 15, 2023. Dennis was born in Osmond, NE on January 19, 1949, during the "Blizzard of '49" to Casper and Louise (Boland) Schock. Dennis graduated from UNL as a microbiologist. He started his career at Norden Labs in Lincoln and retired in 2008 when it was Pfizer, and now Zoetis.
He enjoyed his work so much that while on vacation he would take sample jars to collect pond water and moss samples. He was an avid volunteer for Nebraskaland Communications Emergency Team. He loved bowling and that is how he met his wife of 44 years, Carolyn. Other hobbies included taking care of plants, reptiles, ants and cats, he loved to read late into the night. He was a very giving person who was always willing to help someone in need.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn; step-daughters: Karna Lostroh Kolar (husband Bruce) and Kara Lostroh Allee (husband Gordon); and six grandchildren: Travis Kolar, Marc Kolar, Tanis (spouse Tori) Pettit, Rhaine (spouse Kati) Pettit, Karleen Kolar and Nikita Pettit; three great-grandchildren: Jupiter, Apollo and Kaladin Pettit; and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Butherus Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A St in Lincoln.
Visitation with the family present will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
