Diane Teresa Guthery, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community in Grand Island, Neb., after a courageous six-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born on June 5, 1947, in Lincoln, Neb., Diane was the daughter of Michael and Charolotte (Keithly) Messineo. She attended Pius X High School, where she excelled academically and was a four-year cheerleader. Her leadership and spirit were recognized when she was crowned prom queen. Diane graduated in 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln 1969.

During college, she was an active member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and was honored as Miss Rush Week during her freshman year. In 1969, Diane began her professional career with Omaha Public Schools as a speech pathologist and audiologist, working across multiple schools to help children improve their communication skills. Later, she volunteered extensively in Lincoln, including serving as Project Vice President for the Junior League of Lincoln.

On May 26, 1972, Diane married John Guthery Jr., and together they raised one daughter, Lisa Morledge. Diane was a devoted wife, mother, and nana. Her grandchildren-Kyle, Kendal, and Lauren Morledge-brought great joy to her life.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Diane's faith guided her through life's blessings and challenges. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lisa Morledge and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Kyle, Kendal, and Lauren Morledge; brother-in-law, John Jacobson; nephew, Matt Jacobson; niece, Amy Menge; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Guthery Jr.; three unborn children; her parents; Micheal and Charolotte Messineo, parents-in-law, Katherine and John Guthery Sr.; sister-in-law, Kathy Villa; sister, Sharon Jacobson; and other beloved family members.

A viewing, without family present, will be held on December 9, 2025, from 12 to 8 p.m. at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln.

On December 10, visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. and a luncheon afterward.

A private family burial will be held later that afternoon at Calvary Cemetery.
