Diane Mercier Obituary

Diane Marie Mercier

June 5, 1959 - February 18, 2025

Diane Marie Mercier, 65, passed away on February 18, 2025, in Lincoln, Neb. Born on June 5, 1959, Diane was a lifelong Nebraskan whose warmth and strength left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A graduate of Pius X Catholic High School, Diane dedicated over three decades of her life as a receptionist at Nebraska Internal Medicine. Her commitment to her work and the people she served reflected her caring nature and steady presence.

Diane was the beloved mother of Aubrey Lee and Jessica Watson; cherished grandmother to Brendan and Cecilia Lee; and proud great-grandmother to Amarion Lee. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Mark Mercier, John Mercier, and Cynthia Starnes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marilyn Mercier.

Her passions included gardening, motorcycle riding, and spontaneous drives through the mountains with no set destination simple joys that brought her peace and freedom. More than anything, Diane was the rock for those around her: a strong mother, devoted sister, loyal friend, and nurturing grandmother. Her embrace was a refuge in hard times a warm hug when it was needed most and her wisdom guided many through life's challenges.

A celebration of Diane's life will be held on April 26th from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic School Gymnasium, 4142 N 61st Street, Lincoln, NE 68507.

May Diane's memory continue to bring comfort and strength to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Diane became a lifelong friend after we first met in 1978. Distance never hindered our laughter which was usually about us. I so miss her outlook on life and humor even though her health obstacles. God Bless you Diane May you rest in peace. I will never forget our shenanigans

Diane and I walked a similar path on our work and health journeys. I admired her strength and inspiration encouraging me to keep up the fight. I shared a crystal Angel with her several years ago and now I hope she is flying high with her Angel. Be at peace and know you are loved.

Diane was my cousin on my Father´s side, "Those Mercier´s". Diane was a very caring, loving and fun cousin. It was rare when all the cousins were in Lincoln at the same time. At those times, Diane would warmly gather them all to have fun together. Her daughters and grandchildren brought much joy to Diane´s life. They sometimes lived with her. In illness periods of her life, Diane´s children would care for her.
I´ll miss my dear cousin, Diane.
I am so glad she is now without pain and in heaven.

Diane
I will always remember the last time I saw you. I was working and you stopped into the store upon seeing me you smiled that warm smile and gave me a hug. I will never forget your warmth and kindness. R I P
