E. Kay Ebeler, 78, of Crab Orchard, passed away October 16, 2025. She was born to F. Scott and Mary Lucille (Truscott) Lovitt on January 13, 1947. Graduated from Lewiston Consolidated Schools in 1965.
She taught 1 year at Humphrey Public Schools, Nemaha Valley Schools-Cook, and Lewiston High School from 1976 until retirement. She taught Home Economics and sponsored FHA and Pep Club.
Kay was active and held leadership positions in Crab Orchard and district–wide American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include brothers, Jay R. Lovitt and wife, Ingrid and Leon Lovitt and wife, Wendy; sister, Lou Ann Linehan and brother-in-law, Kevin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley McPherrin, Ron Ebeler and wife, Vera and Wayne Eltiste; nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; parents; parents-in-law, Carl and Alvera Ebeler; brothers-in-law, Robert McPherrin, Lonnie Ebeler and Bob Workman; sisters-in-law, Lois Eltiste and Betty Workman.
Mass of Christian Burial Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tecumseh. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family 5 to 7 p.m., and Rosary service at 7 p.m., Thurs. October 23, 2025, Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh. www.wherrymortuary.com.

I am a Trout. We grew up in rural Crab Orchard next to the Lovitts.It was a wonderful community to grow in. Lou Ann and I did many activities together. And Kay was a wonderful older sister. We will all miss her. My love and heart felt loss is with you all. Jerryl Trout Morgan.
