Eleanor Gayle Kreymborg Jones
May 24, 1929 - August 23, 2024
Eleanor Gayle Kreymborg Jones, age 95 of York, NE died Friday, August 23, 2024 in Lincoln, NE. She was born May 24, 1929 in Atkinson, NE to Gail Lewis and Johanna Aurelia Gebhardt Kreymborg, she graduated from High School in Boise, ID in 1946 and then attended the University of Nebraska for 2 years. In 1949 she was married to Robert V. Jones in North Platte and then move to York the following year. Gayle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York for over 60 years.
She loved to play golf, work crossword puzzles, gardening, crochet, knitting and loved to watch her grandchildren play whatever sport was in season. Gayle served on the Election Board, was a member of York PEO Chapter A, Eastern Star and the York General Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fritz Kreymborg and her husband Robert V. Jones on January 26, 2008.
She is survived by her sons David (Debra) Jones of Guymon, OK, Dan (Jean) Jones of Lincoln, daughter Susan Jones Freitag of Scottsdale, AZ, Four grandchildren, Aaron (Pam) Jones, Alex (Emily) Jones, Kelcie Freitag, and Andrew Freitag. Five great grandchildren, Piper Jones, Jarrett Jones, Kendall Jones, Easton Jones, and Callum Jones. Also surviving are several nephews including Bill Bissell and Robert Jones, and her twin brothers Kevin Kreymborg and Kelvin Kreymborg.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church of York. Private burial at York's Greenwood Cemetery. Gayle has been cremated so there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to Kilgore Memorial Library in York. Online condolences can be sent to her family at metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
