On behalf of the Lincoln Memorial Day Observance Association (LMDOA) we would like to express our sincere sympathy on the loss of your loved one. A man of great courage who served in our nation’s military , so that we may have the freedoms we enjoy in America today. Each year, a Candlelight Vigil is held on Memorial Day night at the Antelope Park Veterans Memorial Garden, 30th and “A” Street in Lincoln. At this time, all names of veterans of our Armed Forces, in Lancaster County, who passed away since the last Memorial Day Candlelight Service, are read in a solemn ceremony. Harvey's name will be read at this time. We invite you to come out for this service and bring your family and friends. (Bring lawn chairs)

Harvey would come into the office weekly to do business and always shared a fun thought or two with the staff. Gardening, Carving or just plain ole good conversation.
Harvey was truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly.

Harvey was a very sweet, kind and gentle man who loved life and will be missed tremendously. I always enjoyed his weekly visits to the office. He was a breath of fresh air as he updated us on his latest travel adventures, his current garden and/or wood carving projects. He loved to share his past experiences with us and had great stories to tell. I feel very fortunate that I was able to share his 90th birthday with him this past spring and I feel blessed to have known Harvey. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Harvey and Betty Hales were my parents' neighbors on Stockwell Street. They certainly had some fun times together. I remember his fantastic greenhouse. His gardens were always lush and wonderful. He was always happy and joyful and always gave a big friendly wave when you drove by. He loved his daughters and his granddaughter. I also remember the little dachhunds he and Betty had, especially one named Digger. What a wonderful couple. I'm glad to have known them.
My sympathies to his family and all his friends. Harvey and Betty left a positive mark on the world.

Harvey was a wonderful friend to the Zoo. We will miss visiting with him and sharing his love for the natural world.
