Helen Dorman Obituary

Helen Lucille (Altman) Dorman, 96, Lincoln, died Thursday (1/29/04). Born April 3, 1907, to Charles and Barbara (Jiskra) Altman in Wilber. She graduated from Wilber High School in 1925. She and Lawrence"L.J."Dorman were married on June 24, 1925. They moved to Lincoln in 1946. She was a homemaker, member of Sokol, the PTApresident at Saratoga School and a member of PTAMothersingers in the early 1950s. Employed: Sears Roebuck drapery department; Miller and Paine, housewares department; White Electric until retirement. She and her husband celebrated their golden anniversary in 1975. She loved flowers, birds, arts and crafts, the outdoors, traveling, and her family: nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors: son, daughter-in-law, Duane and Carole Dorman; daughters, sons-in-law, Karen and John Ware III, Barbara and Harold "Butch" Hopkins Jr., all Lincoln; grandchildren, spouses, Terry and Ann Hoffman, Grand Island, Gail Anderson, Genoa, Bruce and Deb Hoffman, McCook, Jenelle Morton, Norfolk, Kendall and JT Dorman, Washington, D.C., Timothy Hopkins and Rollin Bower, Douglas and Elizabeth Hopkins, Stephanie and Mark Phares, Robert and Carrie Nickeson, all Lincoln; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by:parents; brothers, spouses, Lumir Altman, Charles "Chuck" and Anna Altman, Robert "Bob" and Lydia Altman; sisters, spouses, Julie and Hody Hotovec, Rose and Henry Kral, Abbie Havelka, Adela and Adolph Pomajzl, Irene and Steve Safranek; husband of 53 years, Lawrence J. Dorman; daughter Neva Hoffman, who died in 1979, son-in-law Harold Hoffman, who died in 1980.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Wilber Czech Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, with family greeting friends 3-5 p.m, funeral home. Memorials:Alzheimer's Association, 5601 S. 27th St., Suite 201, Lincoln 68512; or donor's choice.
