Janette Lucas Obituary

Janette K. Lucas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Oakman, AL, she was a woman whose warmth, humor, and steadfast love touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janette was preceded in death by Leo, her husband of 70 years. They raised their family in Lincoln, NE. In retirement, they settled in Green Valley, Arizona, where she embraced the sunshine, new friendships, and her favorite pastimes: shuffleboard and playing cards. A lifelong Nebraska Huskers fan, she rarely missed a chance to proudly wear red and cheer on her team on game day. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, quick wit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and valued. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the lives she enriched with her presence.

She is survived by her three children, Mike (Rhonda), Barry (Vanessa), and Roxana (Randy.) and her four grandsons, Shawn, Taylor, Casey and Austin (Brea). She will be deeply missed and forever loved. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Janette's name to the University of Nebraska Foundation for the Extension Fund 01044010 at www.nufoundation.org.

Janette was one of the nicest people you would ever meet, as was Leo. They are both missed.

I only recently met Janette, she was on my fall league shuffleboard team. I loved that she was a big football fan and enjoyed talking to her during our shuffleboard matches and practice. My condolences to her family and long time friends. I think she was someone I would have liked to know longer. RIP Janette.
