Joanne LeBow Obituary

Joanne Marie LeBow

November 1, 1935 - February 18, 2025

Joanne LeBow (89), beloved mother to five children of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly from a stroke on February 18, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Up until the end, Joanne was very active working part-time for her son Stephen, playing golf, enjoying bridge night with friends and sharing that beautiful and amazing laugh she was fondly known for.

Joanne, was a devoted mother to Stephen Mannix (Lincoln, NE), CJ Mannix (San Diego, CA), Liz Mannix-Schmidt (Scottsdale, AZ), Mark Mannix (Kansas City, MO) and Flo Shaw, (Lake Villa, IL) all her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided. All five of her children were by her side at her home, just where she wanted to be, at her passing.

Joanne took special joy in supporting her kids in their ongoing sporting activities and was undoubtably their biggest fan. It was hard to find a bigger sports fan as she also loved watching PGA golf, NE football and had a deep passion for NE women's volleyball.

Joanne was hard-working and dedicated. She spent 25 years working as a Legal Secretary at Baylor Law Firm where she retired at the age of 65.

Joanne is survived by her children and 11grandchildren, Tyler Mannix, Stephanie Synhorst, Samantha Mannix, Paige Mannix, Cameron Shaw, Taylor Shaw, Lauren Shaw as well as many other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Joanne was preceded in death by:

Husband: Burton LeBow

Parents: Elizabeth Keys and Bert Keys

Brothers: Bert Keys and Don Keys

Grandma, I miss you so incredibly much. You were always such an amazing person with the brightest and most loving spirit. Your contagious laugh is one of the many things I will miss hearing from you. Anytime you would laugh, it extended such a happiness to everyone that was lucky enough to hear it.

You always brought the brightest energy into every room you entered, and of course always rocking one of your many fabulous outfits. I am so fortunate to have been able to call you Grandma. I know I am just one of many when I say how incredibly lucky I am to have had you in my life.

I love you so much Grandma.

Grandma, I miss you already

I don´t even know what to say, just a week and a half ago (before you passed) I was talking to you on the phone as I was headed to play racquetball and little did I know it would be the last conversation I would ever have with you.

You will always be one of my very favorite people. Your smile, laugh, competitive nature, glam, and care and love for me could not be beat. Any amount of time with you wouldn´t have been enough but I´m the luckiest girl in the world to have been your granddaughter for the past 31 years.

I hope I can make you proud and carry on your legacy. I´ll love you always and forever

To a terrific mother who touched so many people, and who will be dearly missed. She was an amazing mother and person. She enjoyed life to the fullest. I was blessed to be able to enjoy numerous Nebraska football games and events with my mom, which made it very special. No one was made to feel like a stranger at mom´s house. I thank her for all her love, support, and guidance that helped me become the person I am. I could not have had a better mother. I know she is now in heaven with dad and her family. Thanks for everything mom. You were awesome!!
Much love,
Your son CJ

My mom was a remarkable person in every way. She had a beautiful soul, a passion for life, and a positive energy that would brighten every room she was in. Her big smile and laugh was infectious and would fill a room with such warmth and happiness. She poured such love, guidance, and support into my life every day. She lived with such a passion for life and brought such joy and happiness to her family and friends. I was blessed to have her for my mom! She was my biggest inspiration and the best role model for what a mom should be. No words can adequately express the depth of love I felt for my mom. I cherish every minute I had with her. My life will never be the same without her, but she will live in my heart forever.
