Joel William Addink

March 16, 1965 - January 3, 2025

Joel William Addink, 59, of Riverside, California passed away on January 3, 2025 in his home with family and friends at his side after a long battle with cancer.

Joel was born March 16, 1965 to John and Betty Addink in Colorado. The family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Joel graduated from Lincoln Christian High School. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to obtain a bachelor's degree and continued his education at the University of Texas with an MBA.

Joel met his wife, Shirley Starr, in Lincoln and they were married November of 1989. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where their two daughters, Kayli and Summer were born in 1994. In 1995, they moved to Riverside, California. Their son, Andrew Addink, was born in 1998. Joel worked as the CFO of AG Sod Farms for 29 years. He loved his job working for the family business.

Joel loved being a dad! He got involved in his children's sports, helped start a significant youth soccer ministry, and led many small groups that impacted many lives both in his community and at the Grove Community Church. Joel loved spending time with family and friends, running, biking and skiing.

Joel will be deeply missed by his family: wife, Shirley; children Kayli and Matt Flint of Farmington, Maine; Summer and Joshua Deeney and their two children of Anchorage, Alaska; and Andrew and Makenna Addink of Lincoln, Nebraska. He will also be missed by his parents, John and Betty Addink of Riverside, CA and his sisters, Deborah and husband Stuart Spencer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Melanie and husband Matt Maxwell of Riverside, CA.

A Celebration of Joel's Life will be held at the Grove Community Church,19900 Grove Community Drive, Riverside, CA on January 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
