John S. Janssen, 65 of Nebraska City, passed away on June 10, 2022, at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. He was born August 25, 1956, to Keith & Joyce (Tucker) Janssen in Syracuse. John attended the Syracuse School District.
John lived in Nebraska City with his Region V family who loved him deeply and called him Johnny. His favorite color was red, which might explain why he was such a huge Husker fan. John was a member of the Nebraska City Jaycees. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed making Latch Hook Rugs.
John loved his family, especially his nieces & nephews and showed his love by remembering their birthday and always asking about the next family gathering.
He is survived by his siblings: Mary (Daryl) Hopp of Eagle, Steve (Kim) Janssen of Lincoln, Gary (Shelly) Janssen of Lincoln; nieces & nephews: David Wulf, Stephanie Mitchell, Angie (Danny) Badgett, Spencer (Megan) Janssen, Phillip (Megan) Janssen, Michael Janssen, Taylor (Elizabeth) Janssen, Brandon Janssen, Kylie Janssen; 8 great-nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & sister: Cheryl Wulf.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Please wear your husker gear or anything red to honor John. The service will be livestreamed on the Luther Memorial Church, NE YouTube page. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse. John's family would like to invite everyone to celebrate his life after the burial with a luncheon of one of his favorite meals, fried chicken. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse. Memorials are suggested to Region V – Nebraska City.
