Jon Feistner Obituary

Jon Kent Feistner of Denver, CO, formerly Lincoln, NE, passed away peacefully while visiting family in California on April 21st. Born on May 5th,1942 to Ely and Grace Feistner, Jon spent his formative years growing up in Nebraska City. He attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he was a political science major, and a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. At UNL, he met some of his most dear and life-long friends. It is also where he became a diehard Husker fan. He married Susan Grasmick Feistner in 1966, and they had 3 children: Stephanie, Joel, and Hilary.

Jon was perfectly suited for a career in sales due to his gregarious personality and his quick wit. If there had been an award for Mr. Congeniality, he would have been a multi-year winner. Known for his snappy style, it was appropriate that he opened a clothing store, Jon Feistner Ltd., after graduating from college. Then he became a manufacturer's representative for various clothing companies and eventually a carpet company. Later in life, he found love again, and in 2000 he married Kay Pinkham Feistner. Together they took on many adventures and lived a life full of love and fun in their beloved mountains in Colorado.

Jon loved to spend time outdoors, especially going for long walks and listening to music. He also loved a good margarita or a dry martini. He was a lover of music and passed on a zest for life and laughter to everyone he met. Jon will be deeply missed by his loving family including his wife Kay Pinkham Feistner, children: Stephanie Hatfield (Scott), Joel Feistner, Hilary Feistner (Jim), and Amanda Pinkham (Wilson). He left a wonderful legacy in his grandchildren: Morgan Mendez (Logan), Ben Hatfield, Meg Hatfield, Walker Stephens, Amari Stephens, and great-grandson, Nolan Jon Mendez. Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Feistner and his parents, Ely and Grace Feistner.

A celebration of Jon's life will be held on Thursday, May 23rd from 5-7 pm at Duffy's Tavern at 1301 O Street in Lincoln to share memories and toast a life well-lived.

Dearest Kay...I cannot imagine the pain you must be in. Jon was such a gift as a client...and, when you came along, I was doubly blessed! Your wonderful relationship was so beautiful to witness! You were truly perfect puzzle pieces. I miss making Jon a cup of coffee...I really do. I miss our chats and your laughter...
Life is sometimes so hard.

Jon and I were pledge brothers of Phi Kappa Psi. WOW we had so much fun together with our brothers. I guess we all graduated but not sure how. Did not see Jon regularly over the last several years because I live in Kentucky but had a reunion or two in Nebraska and got together a few times in Colorado. Jon was always fun to be with - he had a great sense of humor.
We will all miss him greatly but in a way he will always be with us.

Jon and I spent many an hour together as kids. Friends from grade school through high school. Knowing he had a great life and is now at peace is healing to all that knew and loved him.
