Lauren Schreiner Obituary

Lauren Henry Schreiner

December 25, 1931 - October 12, 2025

Lauren Henry Schreiner, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Lincoln with family at his side.

He was born early in the morning on Christmas Day, December 25, 1931, in Unadilla, Neb. He graduated from Bennet High School in 1949 and was honored with a trophy for "All Sports".

Lauren enlisted in the Navy on March 15, 1951, and served on the destroyer USS Owen for four years, during which time they were deployed to support the Korean War. His home port was in Norfolk, Va. Before heading to Key West, Fla, he was assigned to the destroyer USS Pearle from January 1955 – March 1955. He was honorably discharged on March 15, 1955, in Key West, Fla.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Grossman on August 30, 1953, and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage, working together and raising their family of four children.

Lauren was a faithful member of the Bennet Community Church and did much of the remodeling work of the church.

He was a Master Electrician by trade which he learned in the Navy. He worked for 40 years for Southside Electric. He then retired and opened his own business of Schreiner Electric.

Lauren and Marilyn moved their house from Lincoln to an acreage in Bennet, Neb. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle with his father-in-law, Ike Grossman. Lauren finally retired at age 87.

Lauren was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lena Schreiner; his son, Lloyd; son-in-law, Marty Earhart; and sister-in-law, Nancy Fifer.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, David (Kay) Schreiner, Lauri Earhart, Glenn (Barb) Schreiner; five grandchildren, Angela Allen, Scott Schreiner, Travis Earhart, Brandon Earhart, and Joel Schreiner; and eight great-grandchildren. He loved them all dearly and he had many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Bennet Community Church, 350 Monroe Street, Bennet, Neb. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Bennet Church on Saturday October 25, 2025. Burial in Lincoln following the reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for future designation by the family. Many thanks to the AseraCare Hospice staff and to the staff of Country House for their loving care. Condolences may be left at www.lincolnfh.com

Marilyn, Glenn, Laurie and David, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father (husband.) So glad you had 72 years together. What an incredible example your marriage is. Marilyn, you and Lauren raised a wonderful family. Your kids are strong, kind and brilliant. I was so inspired by Glenn and Laurie´s talents and intelligence back in high school.
Blessings to your family as you navigate this journey. Martha (Lindell) Nelson and Dave Nelson-Lincoln, NE
