"The ones left standing have to cry all the tears,
And replay all the memories good and bad through the years,
And we shoulder the weight of the work left to be done,
And the ones left standing carry on."
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

Although we had not been in touch over the past few years, it is with great sadness that I learned of Lou's passing last month. We had spent a lot of time together in Omaha and Washington, DC and Lou was always gracious, thoughtful and generous. I know how much Lou absolutely loved and adored Susan, and my thoughts are with her and the entire Burgher family.

Lou was a very productive in advancing medical education and care. His civic activism helped amplify care. I watched his pursuits over the last 54 years that I had the opportunity to interact. Sympathies to Susan and family
