Marian Bennett Nuernberger, 97, of Lincoln passed away November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 20, 1928, in Lenora, Kan., to T.H. and Helen (Bennett) Van Diest.
Family members include her daughters, DeAnn Currin (Bruce), Lincoln, Jan Tell (Ken), Grand Island, and Nancy Thomsen (Bern), Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Judge W.W. (Bill) Nuernberger; and brother, John Van Diest.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m., December 6, 2025, First Plymouth Church, 2000 D St.

Mrs. Nuernberger was my 3rd grade teacher at Merle Beattie Elementary School back in the late 70´s. I remember her class very well, and recall her gentleness and her way with all of us. She taught me what the word, "wise," meant-and asked me to look it up first and then explain to her what I learned. For whatever reason, that really made an impression-a true teacher and example. I´ve always thought back to my year with her as one of my best. Rest well, Mrs. N-you are loved.
