Survived by his wife, Marlene (Steinbach) Smid; four children; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services, Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6111 Morrill Ave, Lincoln. Rosary, 10 a.m., Mass 10:30 a.m. Military Burial to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S 14th St. Reception to follow at Roper & Sons South Lincoln Reception Facility, 3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln (16).
