Neil Rutledge Obituary
Neil S. Rutledge, 39 of Lincoln, passed away November 8, 2025. Neil was born on May 8, 1986 in Lincoln, NE to Brad and Susan (Sutton) Rutledge. He graduated from Southeast High School and UNL and then received his law degree from NYU. He made his home in Lincoln since graduating from law school.
Neil had many hobbies including woodworking, gardening, hydroponics, painting, doing yoga, Dharma, hiking in the mountains and his two cats.
Neil is survived by his parents, Brad and Susan and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family is planning a service in the spring.

We knew him in passing, through his Dad, Brad. Brad is special to us as longtime friend and musical sidekick to our Cousin Charlie Hahn. With a little coaxing, once, we got Neal to record with us on his oboe, while putting together our album From The Old Red Hymnal. It was just him, and his Dad on mandolin doing A Mighty Fortress Is Our God. It was moving for all of us watching those two play together, just enjoying each others company through music. Turned out to be everybody's favorite. We send much love to Sue and Brad at this very difficult time. If anyone reading this sees them, please give them a long hug from us. So sad.

I am so very sorry to hear of Neil´s passing. I was his teacher in 6th grade at Rousseau. I have such fond memories of a kind, intelligent, and inquisitive young man! The world lost a wonderful person much too soon.

Brad and Sue, thank you for raising such a wonderful man. Neil friended me when I had no others, and guided me when I had no compass. Truly a special person in my life who shaped me for the better. So many good memories when I think of him, I don´t know whether to laugh or cry.
