Oren Phillip Reich, age 84, of Hewitt, Texas passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Oren was born on October 31, 1940, in Lincoln, to Howard and Loretta (Peter) Reich. A proud Nebraskan, he graduated from high school in Lincoln before earning his Associate's Degree from Texas State Technical College. On August 28, 1960, Oren married Donna Watson in Lincoln. Together, they built a joyful life filled with love and devotion until her passing. He later found companionship again with Linda Skidmore, whom he married November 7, 2021, and remained lovingly by her side until her passing.
Oren served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service extended beyond the military. He was a longtime member of Lakewood Christian Church, the Masonic Cotner Lodge #297 in Lincoln, NE and the American Welding Society.
Throughout his life, Oren wore many hats: Pipefitter, Master Plumber, Master Welder, rancher, and instructor at TSTC. He was known for his craftsmanship, work ethic, and willingness to share his knowledge with others. Outside of work, he found joy in collecting firearms and ammunition, and he was never one to miss a chance to dance to country music.
Oren was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Loretta, his beloved wives Donna and Linda, and his son, Travis Reich.
He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Hansen (Gary) and Diann Lyons (Randy); his godchildren, Kimber Hansen, Jeff Hansen, Carol Scheler (Kenny), Geri Rutledge, and Rhonda Ohlheiser; his stepdaughter, Alayna Mize (Lance) and family; stepson, Greg Taylor (Julie) and family; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
