Raymond E. Frey
March 9, 1938 - March 16, 2024
Raymond "Ray" Frey, age 86, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away March 16, 2024, at Tabitha's Journey House. He was cared for by "Earth Angels," in his last days, after suffering from a brain aneurysm on February 29. His daughter Michelle and grandchildren spent time reading books to him and letting him know how much he was loved in his last days and celebrated his birthday the week before his passing. Special thanks to Father Daniel Rayer and Hospice Chaplain Dan Warnes, for praying with him and his family in the last days of his life.
Ray was born March 9, 1938, in Steinauer, NE, to Edna (Wenzl) and Ervin Frey. Upon graduating from Steinauer High School, he entered the US Navy and proudly served his country. He loved America! Ray later moved to Colorado, and one of his proudest accomplishments was working on building the Dillon dam in Summit County, CO. He spent many years living and working in Beatrice, at Northern Natural Gas Company. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. After his divorce he relocated to Lincoln, where he made many new friends. If something needed to be fixed, Ray was always there to offer a hand and was a friend to many. His friends nicknamed him "Husker Frey" and he could be heard a block from his home, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on game days.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Matt) Cochell; three grandchildren: Easton, Brody, and Camden; Stepdaughter Ana (Steven) Balka-Ypma; sisters: Joan Lafferty, Dorothy Kalin, Janice Gimenez; and sisters-in-law: Kathy (Don) and Mary (Glen) Frey; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ray was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Glen and Don Frey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held March 22, 2024, 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 735 S 36th St., Lincoln, Nebraska. A Graveside service in Steinauer, ne, will be at a later date, this spring.

My wife and I enjoyed chatting with Ray on occasion at NorthGate Gardens. He always had a smile and a greeting when we would see him walking in the building or riding his bike. We are very sorry for your loss.
