Rodney Davies Shuman

Rodney D. Shuman, 79, Lincoln, died Friday (9/30/22). Born (7/16/43) to Rodney and Louise (Davies) Shuman in Lincoln, Nebraska. Rod graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School and Nebraska Wesleyan. He was a member of the 1962 state championship team at Lincoln Northeast and lettered in basketball at Nebraska Wesleyan. He married Patricia Lueth on (12/26/71) in Emerson, Nebraska. Rod worked in the grocery business for 35 years.
Rod was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Rod enjoyed traveling. He loved the Huskers and was a member of the UNL chain gang for 30 years. Rod also worked on the event staff for basketball and concerts. He was a high school official for basketball and football. Rod played slow pitch softball and AAU basketball. He spent time coaching both boys and girls, Small Fry, Spirit, and Jr. Rockets basketball teams. Rod enjoyed biking, golfing, fishing, bird watching, and skiing with his family and friends.
Survived by his wife of 50 years: Pat Shuman; his son and daughter in law: Ryan and Stephanie Shuman; daughter and son in law: Ryly (Shuman) and Kasey Farr; Grandchildren: Gracie Shuman, Kynzly Farr, Ashtynn Farr, and Mason Shuman; sister and brother in law: Kay (Shuman) and Ron Fox; brother in laws, sister in laws, Penny Eriksen-Olson; Gale and Kathi Lueth; Peggy and Doug Want; Roger and Lori Lueth; Bill and Charlene Lueth; Michael and Caprice Lueth; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Louise Shuman, parents in laws, Robert and Ardeth Lueth, brothers in law; Gary Olson; and Jerry Eriksen.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (10/7/22) Bethany Christian Church, 1645 N. Cotner. Rev. Daryl Lauber officiating. Memorials may be given to the family for a charitable donation to be made in Rod's memory at a later date.
