Ruth Elisabeth DeLong Asboe

Ruth Elisabeth DeLong Asboe, 104, longtime resident of Nebraska City died October 14, 2021 in Lincoln. Ruth was born March 20, 1917 in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse High School. She attended Doane College, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She went on to teach in Nebraska City at 6th Street Elementary School, the Island School across the Missouri River, and at Lincoln Northeast High School.
Ruth was united in marriage to the Rev. Eric B. Asboe in 1952. She served with him as a Sunday school teacher, Bible study and prayer group leader, and many other roles in Episcopal churches in Nebraska City, Lincoln, Tecumseh, and Paris, IL. Ruth was a Charter member of P.E.O., Chapter FV in Nebraska City and was a member of Questers, J. Sterling Morton chapter #1021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Eric B. Asboe; her parents, Frank and Evelyn (Friend) DeLong; sister, Norma DeLong; brother, C. Lynn DeLong; and niece, Nancy Hoch and spouse Richard. Ruth is survived by son, Eric B. Asboe II and wife Kathy of Lincoln; grandchildren, Emily of Lincoln, Eric and spouse Kathryn Hargrave of Chattanooga, TN, Bethany of Omaha, and Alexander and spouse Maritza of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Augustine, Micah, Gabriella, and Elin; niece, Martha Cady, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Nebraska City with burial in Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse. Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Episcopal Church Nebraska City, Doane University or St. Monica's in Lincoln. Online condolences may be expressed at www.marshallfuneral.com. Doane sends our condolences to the family. Ruth and her husband Eric were treasured alumni. Ruth was a member of the David Brainard Perry Club while at Doane, which was an organization for students interested in a career in religion or charitable service.

So sorry for your loss. Thought the world of both your parents. Your father baptized both our children at St.David´s. When volunteering at St. E´s, would see your mother´s name, you gave myself and Marilyn Wright permission to go see her. Again, so sorry for your loss, she was a very nice lady!
