Stan Dinges Obituary
Stan Dinges, 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on January 25, 2026, in Lincoln.
A lifelong resident of Lincoln, Stan graduated from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1958. He married Roberta "Bert" Burget on May 18, 1963, in Beatrice, Nebraska. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage and raised three children. Stan found special joy in his role as a grandfather to his two granddaughters, often delighting them with his humor and playful spirit.
Stan had a deep passion for automobiles and community involvement. As a teenager, he helped form the Roadrunners Car Club and participated in drag races at the Lincoln Airbase. He maintained the jukebox at his family's Bismarck Tavern from age fourteen and began working in the amusement industry in 1958. In 1967, he founded Stan's Music & Games, introducing Lincoln to its first video game and helping change local laws around amusement devices. His leagues for pool, darts, and shuffleboard became the largest in the Midwest. He sold the business in 1992 and was inducted into the Midwest Pool Hall of Fame in 2005.
In 1980, Stan and Roberta opened the Neighbors Lounge on "O" Street, managing it until their retirement in 2006. The Lounge became a beloved local spot, known for its leagues, karaoke nights hosted by Stan, and its welcoming atmosphere.
Stan enjoyed golfing-achieving a hole-in-one in 2023-and later developed a love for craft beer and European travel. Even after an AML diagnosis in 2024, he embraced life fully during a remarkable period of recovery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman J. and Lillian (Robertson) Dinges. He is survived by his wife Roberta; children Brenda Dinges, Mike (Stacy) Dinges, and Matt (Laura Pankoke) Dinges; and granddaughters Sarah and Ruby Dinges.
A memorial service will be held at Roper & Sons Mortuary, 4300 "O" Street, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with lunch and drinks to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Catholic Church or to the family for a later designation.
