Thomas "Pony" E. Keig, age 56, of Auburn, NE, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025.
He was born on March 30, 1969, in St. Petersburg, FL.
Tom was, at first impression, not your typical Nebraska farmer. He marched to the beat of his own drum, as well as the beat of his favorite bands such as the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Pearl Jam.
Rarely was he seen without a smirk, because he was always up to something, whether it was studying physics, playing the guitar, or creating DIY amusement park rides. Perhaps that was what drew him to farming, his love of cultivating things.
His smile and crazy sense of humor will be missed by many lifelong friends and family.
He's survived by his daughter, Riley Tolan-Keig and husband, Connor Nichols; sister, Martina L. Henderson and husband, David Henderson; and cats, Lily, Charlie, and Jack.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m., at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries at 7805 West Center Road in Omaha, NE.
The service will be livestreamed at heafeyheafey.com under the Live Cast option in the menu.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hearts United For Animals in Auburn or Fresh Start Home in Lincoln.

I am sorry to learn about Tom´s passing. I always enjoyed visiting with Tom. My late husband and I rented the pasture on the east quarter along Hwy 75
