Virginia L. Nissen

June 18, 1931 - March 23, 2024

Virginia "Ginger" Ley (Hein) Nissen, 92, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully March 23, 2024. Born June 18, 1931, in Fremont, NE, to Harold E. and Joy Margaret (Ley) Hein.

Ginger was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was very active serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher and a member of P.E.O for over 70 years. She was the spice of our lives, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, fondly known as Gammie.

Family members include her husband, Jim Nissen; children: Rege (Linda) Nissen, Jeff (Sue) Nissen, Joy (Matt) Wimmer, and Tim (Pam) Nissen; ten grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Hein; daughter-in-law, Judy Nissen; and granddaughter, Katie Nissen.

Public visitation with family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, ay Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE. Private family inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne, NE, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church Foundation, 2110 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE, or Bryan Foundation, Nissen Scholarship - Bryan Nursing Student, 1600 So. 48th Street, Lincoln, NE.
