Wanda M. Gardner, 96, of Lincoln, passed away January 9, 2021. Born July 6, 1924 in Weeping Water, NE to Edward and Annie (Hopkins) Steinkamp. Wanda was a WW II Veteran (WAC) serving in the Intelligence Branch at the Pentagon. She was a member of Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Faculty Women's Club of UNL, Bluebirds Across Nebraska, Wachiska Audubon Society and the Weeping Water American Legion Club.
Family members include her daughter Lynda Hames (Don Emeigh); sons Charles Gardner, Jr., Thomas Gardner and Richard Gardner, all of Lincoln; grandchildren Geoffrey (Nida) Hames, McNeal, Az; Jennifer Phillips, Jonathan Emeigh, and Joseph Gardner, all of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Lane Hames and Cameren Phillips, of Lincoln; sister Shirley Durham, Chapel Hill, NC. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Gardner, Sr., brother Dale, sister Ruth Anne.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday (1-15-21) Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 'O' Street with Pastor Thomas Dummermuth officiating. Prior burial in Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 'O' Street at 2:00 p.m. Please meet at 'O' Street entrance. Livestream will be available at RoperandSons.com/livestream.
