Wilbur E. Frederick, 83, of Lincoln, passed away May 4, 2022. He was born to Wilbur and Viola (Kreifel) Frederick on May 9, 1938 near Elk Creek, NE. He graduated from Table Rock High School in 1955. On August 28, 1959, he was united in marriage to Audrey Balke. Wilbur, also known as Gene or Mick, joined the National Guard in June of 1956 and served for eight years. He was employed by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy - Burlington Northern - Burlington Northern Santa Fe (CB&Q-BN-BNSF) Railroad as a train order operator station agent, retiring in May of 2000.
He was a 64 year member of the Railroad Transportation Union, a member of the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe (BNSF) Veterans and the BNSF Cornhuskers Club. In addition to his railroad career, he farmed on a small acreage between Elk Creek and Tecumseh and raised livestock at Table Rock.
Survivors: wife Audrey of Lincoln, son, Randall Frederick of Bennet, daughter, Deanna (Dallas) Reyher of Custer, S.D., grandchildren, Samantha (Andy) Wamsley of Humboldt, Kalie (Miles) Koso of Lincoln and Kendall Reyher (special friend, Ashley Jobe) of Custer, S.D., 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh. The service will be live streamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page. Visitation: 2-6 p.m., with family 2-4 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh. Memorials may go to the family's choice. Interment: Tecumseh Cemetery. Our sympathies go out to the family. Wilbur was a good neighbor for 30+ years. We'll miss seeing him tend to his garden & raspberry patch. Peace be with you.
