Aleksas Trotter Obituary

MADISON - Aleksas J. 'Lex' Trotter, 21, formerly of Racine, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his residence in Madison. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii August 27, 1986, son of Dr. John and Dr. Dana (nee: Rozenas) Trotter. Aleksas was a graduate of Prairie School "Class of 2004" and had attended Marquette University. He was last residing in Madison. Lex was a young man of many exceptional talents. For years, Lex lived and breathed gymnastics and trained at the Swiss Turners Gymnastic Academy of Milwaukee. He was a Wisconsin State Champion in the vault and floor exercises and qualified for Nationals two years in a row. Following an injury to his shoulder, Lex was unable to compete competitively, but through his website, he was able to keep many relationships worldwide in gymnastics with his reviews, video clips, and commentary. Lex was also an accomplished pianist, remarkable writer, brilliant photographer, and wonderfully artistic. He will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memories and mourn his loss are his parents, Dr. John and Dr. Dana Trotter of Racine; his sisters and brothers, Alia Sweis of Tucson, Ariz., Alana Trotter of Madison, Michael Trotter, Marcus Trotter, both of Racine; his grandparents, Hattie Trotter, Elena Rozenas; dear friends, Arik Williams and Caitlan Hart; aunts, uncles, other relatives, and many other friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dr. Aleksas Rozenas. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015 4 Mile Road, Saturday, April 26, 2008, 10 a.m. with Rev. Michael Mueller and Rev. Carol Baumgartner officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials in Aleksas' name to Matanya's Hope (relief for the Aids orphans in Kenya, Africa), P.O. Box 562, Homewood, Ill. 60430 USA, have been suggested. Not sure what to say?

How can anyone really understand what you are all going through, even now. Yet, Aleksas would want joy for you, not sorrow. He would want peace for you, not discourse. He would want Hope in your hearts, not desperate longing. I hope you can honor him with true joy, peace and hope.

I think of the Trotter family often, and I want you to know how much we love you.

Dear Drs. Trotter,

I just viewed the montage in memory of your wonderful son, Lex. I have never seen a more compassionate, loving tribute to anyone as the one you created. His life will always be remembered by those that also view this video. He was indeed a remarkable young man and truly loved by his friends and family. God Bless you Lex and your family as well.

We received a call early this morning from our daughter Carrie Lujan-Vallejo notifying us about Lex's passing. I met Lex through my daughter Carrie at the Olympic Trials in Los Angeles a few years ago and had the pleasure of spending a day at Disneyland with them both.

My wife Susan and I are deeply saddened by your loss and share in your grieving in the passing of your son/brother Lex. In reading Lex's Guest Book he was well respected, loved, talented, and a caring person. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

“Lex’s” last montage is just a continuation of Aleksas's brilliance. I never had an interest in gymnastics until I viewed his montages. I can not put into words why and how much his passing has and will affect me. I am in tears as I post this comment, I just hope Aleksas knew how much of a contribution he made in the short time he was in the world, something not everyone can have credited to their lives. I knew him through his accomplishments; those haunting eyes of his will never be forgotten as will his dedication to his obsession with gymnastic. I have watched all of his work since Aleksas left to be with God and it is not without tears every time for the loss we will all endure. His personal montages revealed how much he gave and how much he could care for someone. I just pray he realized how much love there was before he left. I wish I had a chance to have met you Aleksas.
Aleksas is with God now, and he will Rest In Peace, so Trotter family stay strong in this realization as you mourn.

Trotter family,

Please accept my deepest condolences... You may not know me, but I've been chatting with Aleksas for a few months now on the Internet. I'm a french boy from Paris and Gymnastics is what made us meet each other on his facebook account. Your son is and will always remain a wonderful being, so nice and friendly, with a lot to give.
I pray for him to rest in peace.
Wherever he may be, I wish he can tumble and have fun, and receive all the love his friends and family are sending him. I will never forget him and I will keep on praying for his soul to rest in peace.
God bless you

Trotter Family I wish to send my deepest condolences

Lex was a pleasure to coach when I was at Swiss and he will be missed by many. He was a hard worker and I still use him as an example of dedication. He was so beautiful to watch tumble and his passion for the sport was unsurpassed. I am thankful to have had the honor to coach your son Lex.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family

A smile upon a little face with curly black hair,
hidding from his brothers and sister,
as I watched from the stairs.
"Aleksas," they called, as I watched him sneak pass me,
putting his finger to his nose whispering, "shhhhh, christie it's just me."
Through my eyes all I still see, is the little boy with the curly black hair smiling, waiting for me..
to hold his hand, to watch him play and listen to him play piano every day.
These images will last forever, as I was their child care provider for a moment in time,
for Aleksas will always be a precious memory of mine.

I am so sorry John and Dana.

Johnny & Dana:

Time heals all pain including the loss of one so near and dear to you. Just continue to pray and seek God as you journey from day-to-day because he is the one who will help you along life's way. Know that my family and I are praying for you in this time of bereavement.

I found this poem and I would like to share it with you entitled "Sealed with a Kiss"

Letting go or holding tight
The thought keeps you awake at night
It's not a choice you have to make
There's still so much that's give and take

Relationships don't die with dying
And love doesn't fade when's done the crying
Always is the connection there
A smell, a touch, a breeze of air

Gone away but never gone
The love they had is carried on
Through deeds and thoughts and maybe more
This loss opens another door

Earthly bounds as such you find
Exist for you but in your mind
Take what you have learned from this
And seal it with a lasting kiss

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Dana & Family,

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
Everyone would walk right up to Heaven
And bring "Lex" back to you again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
He was gone before you knew it
And only God knows why
Your hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose "Lex"
No one will ever know
Family, please remember all the happy times, because life still has much in store.
"Lex" will never be forgotten, because there is a hallowed place within your hearts where he’ll always stay.
