Alfred Dresen Obituary

RACINE - Alfred J. Dresen, age 64, surrounded by his family passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center following a battle with cancer. Alfred was born in Racine, February 20, 1944, son of the late Alfred C. and Rita C. (nee: Smetana) Dresen. Al graduated from St. Catherine's High School 'Class of 1963.' From 1965 until 1967 he served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. On April 29, 1978, in Racine he was united in marriage to Sharon L. Wosyk. He had been employed by Western Publishing for seventeen years and retired from Andis Clipper in 2003. After retirement, he worked part time at the Metro Auto Auction with the Tuesday Men's Club. Al was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Racine Moose Lodge #437, and the Lake Arrowhead Association. Al was a Packer fan and an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing Saturday mornings at Johnson Park. Above all he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his two children, Samuel (Shea) Peach, Susan (Jeremiah) Barkley; his eight grandchildren, Misti, Cassie, Alex, Alyssa, Samantha, Harley, Gabby, J.J.; brothers and sisters, Larry (Mary) Dresen of Nashville, Tenn., Mike (Julie) Dresen of Nekoosa, Mary (Bob) Pavlat of Racine, Jim Dresen and Chere LeClair of Racine; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Carol (Doug) Green, John Wosyk, both of Racine; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Quinn. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. Private funeral services will be held followed by interment at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. I want to thank all who supported our family during this difficult time. I will truly miss my brother very much. We had so many good times together and I will never forget him. I'm sure Al, Mom, Dad, and Laura are all sitting around talking about all of us here on earth. Until we meet again, love and miss you all.
