Donald Davis Obituary

EUDORA, KAN. - Donald W. Davis, 80, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 24, 2005. Donald was born in Racine to the late Lambert A. Davis and Margaret M. (nee: Kupper). He was raised in Racine by his mother, Margaret and step-father, William Dean Kelley, also deceased. He was united in marriage to Eunice N. DeMars on June 8, 1946, in Racine. Donald served in World War II in the South Pacific from 1943 until 1945. He was in the Army Air Corps and among the first troops to land in Japan after the war. He worked at KSTP in Minnesota and Channel 12 in Milwaukee for five years, and then for Custom Control Products of Racine until retiring in 1990. After retiring, he worked part-time for Ted Waters of Visicomm Incorporated. He was a member of both AMVET and the VFW. He had also become quite the motorcycle enthusiast. Surviving are his wife of 59 years , Eunice; one son, Michael (Denise) Davis of Eudora, Kan.; four grandchildren, Troy Davis of Carlsbad, Calif., Dana Placencia (Tom Basinger) of Antioch, Ill., Justin (Heather) Davis of Racine, and Nickolas W. Davis of Milwaukee; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Placencia, Mario Placencia, and Tyler Davis; and his two sisters, Phyllis (Mike) Kanocz of Las Vegas, Nev. and Delores (Gene) Katt of Kenosha. Donald is also survived by many beloved relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, David R. Davis in 1980. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Racine on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at 5:30 p.m. with Fr. William Dietzler officiating. There will be a private family Graveside ceremony at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials have been suggested to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Center Regional Cancer Care, 330 Arkansas, Suite 105, Lawrence, Kan. 66044.
