Evan Wiechmann Obituary

BURLINGTON - Evan W. Wiechmann, 81, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Neenah, WI on July 6, 1934, he was the son of Henry and Erma (nee Eldred) Wiechmann. He spent his early life in Menasha where he graduated from Menasha High School before attending University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. On June 28, 1958 in Rio, WI he was united in marriage to Jean Adams. Following marriage they made their home in Oshkosh, Plymouth, Grafton, and Wausau before moving to Burlington 43 years ago. Evan worked with the Burlington Area School District as the Business Manager. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as president and treasurer of the council, sang in the choir and served as an usher. Evan loved his family and his dogs. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, especially in football. He was a high school business teacher and enjoyed coaching. He was always active in church life and was a charter member of Grace Lutheran in Grafton. Evan and Jean loved to travel and enjoyed going to Arizona during the winter months. They also had a cottage “up north” that was greatly enjoyed by all the family. He was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoyed playing cards and could always be heard cheering for the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean; children, Connie Powers (Rollie) Mohawk, Jim (Judy) Wiechmann and Cathie Zimmerman; grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Powers, Carolyn Powers, Caitlyn (Dennis) Neel, Caileigh Zimmerman and Connor Zimmerman and great grandchildren, Evelyn, Colton and Samuel. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne (Patt) Wiechmann and Joan (Doug) Schneider along with brother-in-law, Bob Adams, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank Dr. Haider and his staff along with Aurora Hospice, especially Jutta Rupe, for their wonderful care and compassion. Services for Evan will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 1200 noon at Peace Lutheran Church, 349 Wegge Court, Burlington, WI, with Rev. Daniel Vojta officiating. Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Monday, October 12th from 1000 a.m. to 1145 a.m. Burial will be at Ohio Cemetery in Rio, WI. The family asks that memorials go to Peace Lutheran Church.
